One of one. Vintage Japanese Formal Kimono. Globally Imported from Japan. Heirloom.
Like an ancient painting brought to life, Kyōto Parade carries the spirit of old Japan — a scene alive with festival floats, dancers, and waves of vermilion and gold. The lower panels bloom with artistry: carriages adorned in chrysanthemums and maple leaves glide across swirling black and orange waters, celebrating the Gion Matsuri — one of Japan’s most sacred cultural festivals.
The body is pure black silk, adorned with five white family crests (go-mon) — the highest mark of formality in Japanese tradition — once worn for ceremony, lineage, and legacy. Inside, a luminous ivory silk lining softens the structure, contrasting beautifully with the vivid story painted along the hem.
Every inch tells of reverence and rhythm — of craftsmanship that outlived the century.
Cultural Note
The kurotomesode (黒留袖) is Japan’s most formal kimono for married women, often worn to weddings and imperial occasions. Its hand-painted hem designs traditionally depict auspicious symbols — here, carriages and waves — representing prosperity, movement, and the continuity of life.
